McLaren Vale - Coonawarra, SA
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
Current Vintage: 2011
Bottle Size: 750ml
Case Size: 6

Tasting Notes:

This Cabernet Sauvignon has a wonderfully expressive varietal aroma while the blend of McLaren Vale and Coonawarra highlights the best aromas and flavours that Cabernet has to offer - peppermint, violets, chocolate, leather, black olive and menthol with oak influenced toasty vanilla. It is medium bodied with a generous mouth feel and a long finish.
Vintage Information: The 2011 vintage was one many would probably like to forget. During the crucial time for grape growing in McLaren Vale (January to March), we experienced double the average rainfall (55.5mm) with falls for the three months totalling 116.4mm.
The lead up to the vintage was actually very good. Soaking rains in winter and into spring and mild temperatures in early summer meant a nice slow accumulation of flavours which we managed to capture in the majority of the fruit we took in.

Wine Region:

Located approximately 35km south of Adelaide in South Australia. Grapes were first planted in 1838 and some vines are more than 100 years old and are still producing. Today there's more than 88 cellar doors. McLaren Vale is recognized as one of the best Shiraz growing regions in Australia, second only to the Barossa.

Food Pairing:

Barbecued meats taste best with this great wine.
