Tasting Notes:

The colour is a pale straw still with youthful green hues. The aroma shows delicate lemon and lime with hints of melon and nectarine. Subtle toast, cashew and straw oak notes add depth and complexity. The palate is fine and delicately structured with fresh citrus and melon on the mid palate finishing on a clean stone fruit note.

The 2011 vintage was one many would probably like to forget!! During the crucial time forgrape growing in McLaren Vale (January to March), we experienced double the average rainfall (55.5mm) with falls for the three months totalling 116.4mm. The lead up to the vintage was actually very good. Soaking rains in winter and into spring and mild temperatures in early summer meant a nice slow accumulation of flavours which we managed to capture in the majority of the fruit we took in, with this Chardonnay being no exception

The 2011 Chardonnay was partly fermented and matured in French oak Hogsheads prior to bottling. The resultant wine displays fresh melon, citrus and stone fruit characters with lovely depth and complexity, subtle oak and a crisp clean finish.

Wine Region:

Located approximately 35km south of Adelaide in South Australia. Grapes were first planted in 1838 and some vines are more than 100 years old and are still producing. Today there's more than 88 cellar doors. McLaren Vale is recognized as one of the best Shiraz growing regions in Australia, second only to the Barossa.

Food Pairing:

Roasted red meats.
